Vaka bottom glassed

Three hours today to glass the vaka bottom.

Here's a pic showing the fiberglass in place. We decided to use 2 layers of 160 g/sq.m. cloth: the first goes 5 cm past the chines, the second 10 cm.

And here it is after wetting out with resin. We prepared about 900 grams of resin and used a roller and a squeegee to spread it.

Total work time to date: 360 hours

  1. Do you need to sand the part that is below the chines or simply cover it with extra cloth and resin when you do the sides Pippo?

  2. It's matter of choices, Erricos. We've decided to glass only the critical parts (the main hull bottom and all the chines in the floats, as well as the cockpit floor. The remaining surfaces will det a double clear epoxy coat and then will be faired, primed and painted.
